This bachelor's thesis deals with community singing as a possible leisure activity in Jindřichův Hradec. It theoretically describes free time and its use, the beginnings of spiritual and secular music. It characterizes choirs, singing voice and the role of a choirmaster. Furthermore, the thesis describes choirs in Jindřichův Hradec as a possible leisure activity. It deals with their history, current activities, choirmasters, choristers and the singing repertoire of specific choirs. Contribution of choral singing is also mentioned in the thesis.

Three 18th-century motets from the St. Vitus Church in Český Krumlov

The main topic of the bachelor's thesis is the analysis of three compositions from the second half of the 18th century. They come from the choir of the Church of St. Vitus in Český Krumlov. It is vocal sacred music with instrumental accompaniment intended for a performance during festive services. All three compositions belong to the motet genre. The author of two motets is Jan Lohelius Oehlschagel (1724-1788), a composer connected with the Strahov Monastery in Prague. The other author is Carl Ditters of Dittersdorf (1739-1799), an important composer of Viennese origin who spent most of his life in our country. The compositions are available in a digital edition, which includes a critical apparatus as well. The compositions are set into the context of the life and work of their authors and in the context of church music in Bohemia and Cesky Krumlov in the 18th century.

Spiritual songs and their influence on Christian education in church kindergartens

The bachelor's thesis deals with sacred music in church kindergartens. The history of preschool institutions and the history of music in church education are mentioned at the beginning of the theoretical part of this thesis. The Czech fiction, which reflects the child's relationship to music in church educational institutions, is also mentioned in this bachelor's thesis. One of the chapters is devoted to general information about contemporary church kindergartens, a subchapter is devoted to the use of spiritual songs in church kindergartens. The last chapter of the theoretical part deals with the pedagogy of Franz Kett. The aim of the bachelor's thesis is to answer research questions that deal with the use of spiritual songs in contemporary church kindergartens, the expansion of the pedagogy of Franz Kett by comparison with the bachelor's thesis of Lucie Drahokoupilová. The research was carried out using a questionnaire survey. The research questions, which are summarized in the last chapter, were answered thanks to the survey. Analysis of Jan Ryba's Selected Musical Works for Choir

This diploma thesis called "The analysis of selected choral compositions by Jakub Jan Ryba" deals primarily with his religious works. The introductory chapter briefly describes Ryba's journey to music and the activity of a composer and the text is also based on Ryba's own biography published in 2005 titled My Life and Music. The thesis concerns an extant autographic list of his works dated to 1801 and an autographic fragment of an incipit catalogue of compositions dated from 1774 to 1796 including an incipit of Czech Christmas Mass "Hey, Master!" dated back to 1795. Both lists were compared with two electronic music databases: the catalogue of the department of music history, National Museum - the Czech Museum of Music and the musical incipit catalogue of the National Library of the Czech Republic. The electronic databases were further compared with the thematic catalogue which is a part of the monography titled Jakub Jan Ryba published in 1963. The object of interest was also the quantity of autographs and transcripts and the prints of the works by Jakub Jan Ryba which have been issued from the beginning of the 19th century till present. Jan Bernátek - Life and Choral Works

The thesis focuses on the personality and composer work of the contemporary Czech composer Jan Bernatek. The life and professional career of the composer are introduced; a large part of the thesis is dedicated to the author's compositions focusing on pieces meant for vocal ensembles. Essential pieces of his work were chosen from a complete list of all choir pieces, and these are introduced to a deeper extent. The most space is given to the choral piece Missa brevis and the folk cycle Mezi dvěma vinohrady. Musical analyses of these compositions contain the complete text documents and are accompanied by score samples. The scores of both given pieces are part of the thesis. We tried to describe characteristic features in Bernatek's work and to specify his compositional techniques on the basis of detailed analyses of fifteen pieces. A separate chapter is given to his composer's successes and awards.

The bachelor thesis deals with Michna's songbook Czech Marian Music from 1647. The main goal of the thesis is to describe Michna's life and work in the context of the creation of his first songbook. The insight into the musical structure of Czech Marian music will be completed with literary and language part. The literary analysis should not be overlooked, considering the fact that Adam Václav Michna z Otradovic was not only a musician but above all an excellent poet.

The part about life and work of Johann Sebastian Bach is followed by short analysis of libretto, choice of instruments and historic performances of St. John's Passion. The Final chapter deals with selected recordings of Bach's St. John's Passion - Karel Richter (1970), Nakolaus Harnoncourt (1985), Masaaki Suzuki (2000) and Raphaël Pichon (2013). The main topic of the bachelor thesis is the analysis of Ordinarium by Karel Bříza. The part about life and work of Karel Bříza is followed by short historical-theological explanation of texts from Ordinarium Missae. The study itself consists of music component analysis. Final chapter deals with recordings of Bříza's Ordinarium from churches in Prague. The mail goal is to describe common mistakes which are frequently repeated, find out whether the organists follow prescribed accompaniment and to evaluate quality of music in Prague's churches.

Ivan Kurz as a contributing composer and academic music educator

The author of this thesis endeavours to elaborate a comprehensive portrait of Ivan Kurz, a contemporary composer and academic educator. The thesis is primarily focused on his composition works and his pedagogical contribution with the aim to establish a practical source of information helping musicologists and teachers in the analysis of Czech contemporary music. In addition, it emphasises the remarkable role of Ivan Kurz in the Czech contemporary music scene. In the introductory part of the main body, the work is concerned with the biography of Ivan Kurz and then the work's attention subsequently moves to his composition works. His works, which aesthetically go along with the postmodern ideal of musical expressive elements synthesis, are primarily of spiritually and philosophically themed music. The scope of his compositions is relatively wide. It includes, for example, symphonies, orchestral works, choir works, cantatas, oratorios, chamber music, sonatas, melodrama, etc. These individual composition works and their concert performances are briefly described. If available, sheet music or audio materials and recordings are mentioned as well. J. J. B. Münster: Sacrificium vespertinum, Augsburg 1729, unique extant music collection from the Borovany monastery.

The theme of this work is a collection of Vesper music Sacrificium vespertinum composed by J. J. B. Münster. It is the print published in Augsburg in 1729. One copy of the print is preserved in the collection of music prints from the Minorite convent in Český Krumlov. However, originally it was given to the Augustinian convent in Borovany. The print contains mainly psalm and Magnificat settings intended for festive Vespers in the style common in the late baroque catholic church music in the Central Europe. All texts are Latin. The operating apparatus includes solo voices, a mixed choir, two violins and an organ. The aim of the work is to describe and place the collection in the context of the music and liturgy of the time. The edition of selected compositions is a part of the work.
